Is Botox safe?

Botox is a brand name of the injectable solution botulinum toxin type A. It is FDA approved and we recommend this treatment for patients with fine lines and wrinkles. By choosing to have Botox Kent treatment in a dental practice, you are opting for a sterile environment which will reduce risk of infection, plus you will have a highly qualified expert in facial anatomy who is delivering the treatment for you.

How does Botox work?

Botox injections are administered into the areas that have been agreed upon in just a few minutes. We use extremely fine needles to do this, so you shouldn’t feel any sharp pain. In fact, we can use a numbing cream to ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. Once the injectable solution has been inserted, it blocks the nerve impulse and causes the muscles to relax, making your face look smoother and fresher.

How long does Botox last?

Botox Kent results can be seen within 4 to 7 days of the treatment. At Stangrove Court Dental Practice, we also offer free top-ups within the first 14 days of your treatment, if this is required. The results typically last for 3 months and then further treatment is required to maintain your fresh-faced appearance. So you may only need to see us for several appointments a year to maintain your youthful glow.

What areas can be treated with Botox?

We can use Botox Kent to treat crow’s feet (the lines by your eyes), frown lines, smoker’s lines (the lines around your mouth and top lip), as well as the eyebrows. However, Botox can also be used to address excessive sweating, a condition known as hyperhidrosis and for TMD (jaw clenching). For excessive sweating, you should see a reduction in the amount you sweat within 10 days of your treatment. We use Botox to enter the sweat glands and block the nerve impulses here, which reduces the production of sweat. For TMD, people who grind their teeth can sometimes over-develop the masseter muscle, which can give them the appearance of a wider jaw. By relaxing this muscle, we can reduce the grinding that occurs while you sleep and prevent the muscle from developing more.
